Cheryl Lightford

Cheryl Lightford, a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism. She has interviewed a wide range of notable figures, including celebrities, athletes, entertainers, educators such as Dr. Cornel West, and politicians like First Lady Jill Biden.
In 2019, Cheryl became the Executive Producer and Host of the weekly, one-hour radio program "Like it is Radio Featuring Ladies First," which she inherited from the late, legendary, and iconic Franklyn Verley III, the originator of the show. As his co-host, Cheryl was known as the "softer side of Franklin."
Since taking over the program, Cheryl has put her own stamp on "Ladies First," focusing on engaging, intellectual, inspiring and thought-provoking conversations with a diverse array of every day, extraordinary individuals and those making a significant impact in the state, community, and across the country. With a wide range of relatable topics for both women and men, the show encourages male listeners to tune in, as Cheryl believes that issues affecting women also affect men. In addition to the core female-focused content, Cheryl has incorporated some exclusive male-driven topics into the discussions.


She invites and encourages listeners to become part of the "Like it is Radio" family and tune into "Ladies First" every Friday morning from 10 AM to 11 AM PST on KCEP FM 88.1. Through these engaging conversations, the show aims to meet listeners where they are in their life's journey, fulfilling the purpose and platform of "Ladies First."
